Everyone of us will spend maybe a couple of hours a day on social networks such as Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat. It’s ok only if you are ready to put your phone down and shut down your computer for at least 30 minutes and use that time for you and your health and take a walk around the neighborhood, alone or accompanied with a friend or even better your pet. There are some amazing things that might happen if you do that every day and you will see the results.
- You will burn calories (at least 150)
Depending on your weight and the speed of walking, you will definitely burn at least 150 calories you take that 30 minutes walking . That way you won’t have to worry about eating that extra cookie after lunch.
- You will be calmer (it’s a good stress reliever though)
The walking is relaxing and stress relieving, even if you’re exploring a busy city street and not a quiet meadow. You can also use some apps like OMG I Can Meditate and listen to a guided walking meditation.
- Walking tones your legs
Walking can strengthen and tone the muscles in your legs (thighs and calves). Aside of the walks do some strength-training exercises twice a week (lunges, squats, etc.) and even better results will come.
- Walking reduces varicose veins
It has been proven that regular walking reduces the appearance and pain of varicose veins. Make sure that you change into walking sneakers before you start to prevent injury and increase circulation.
- Improves digestion
After having a heavy meal don’t just relax and lay on the couch in front of the TV. Even a little walk will improve the work of your digestive tract and your blood sugar levels will be more stable.
- Makes you creative
When you go for a walk and clear your head, you will be surprised how easily creative ideas pop up. Take a note in your notepad or remember them, you’ll need them sometimes for sure.
- Inspires you to exercise even more
You will start with only 30 minutes walking a day. After a few weeks that will become a piece of cake for you. You will get even more inspired when you see the results and eventually would like to take it to the next level and try a 30-minute run or bike ride. The possibilities are endless.
